Interested in enhancing your physical capacities?

But you want to play tennis whilst doing so? We propose three simple and efficient exercises that will help improve your general condition whilst enjoying your game at the same time.

 

The butterfly

In this exercise, the idea is to play as partners to make the rally last as long as possible. Player 1 hits all their shots cross-court and player 2 hits every shot down the line. Change roles after 5 minutes. 2 or 3 reps of this will seriously work on your durability.

 

Move and Place

In this exercise, place 2 cones or ball tubes on each baseline half way between the centre mark and the sideline. You play as partners. Playing down the middle, after each shot, touch the cone on the same side as the shot you just played, then reposition yourself in the middle. Ideally, you should alternate forehands and backhands. Do 2 to 3 reps depending on what shape you’re in.

 

Windscreen wipers

In this exercise, you also play as partners. Player 1 plays alternate shots to the left and right corners. Player 2 returns the ball to the middle of the court. The longer the rally, the more efficient the exercise. Change roles after 5 minutes. Do 2 to 3 reps each depending on your fitness.
