CONCENTRATION RITUALS

A game of tennis lasts only 20 minutes of time when the ball is actually in play. So you need to concentrate at the right moments. How? By determining which movements, thoughts and attitudes you need to put in place that will enable you to achieve maximum concentration.

PLAN PRECISE GOALS

The more precise your goals, the better your concentration and your ability to execute your strategies. You have to be pre-pared. The origin of the word speaks volumes.

 

 

PUTTING THEM INTO PLACE

(During the match)

AUTHORISE YOURSELF TO SUCCEED

You have the right to win great points. You can “perform”.

AUTHORISE YOURSELF TO MAKE MISTAKES

You have the right to mess up a point, everyone does. Failing a pre-established goal must not generate frustration.

PUT IN PLACE YOUR CONCENTRATION RITUALS

Everything you have planned beforehand can be put into place during a match.

 

DEBRIEF

(Post-match) A debrief enables you to prepare for your next match/training session in order to correct what didn’t go to plan mentally. The debrief should be :

FACTUAL

Based on real things that actually happened.

PRECISELY MEASURABLE

Based on stats and figures that have meaning.

CARRIED OUT REGULARLY

Your mental attitude requires constant work in order to improve it.

BE POSITIVE !

In order to progress, be positive towards every approach.
