Training programme - Week 1 - Session 2

Baseline technique

Main goal:
Improve intricate footwork
Secondary aim:
Service technique (precision)

Main Session 1-hour:
10’ : Rallies within the service lines without hitting hard and without expanding the game. Keep control of the ball with your hands. All shots must be executed from a balanced, two-footed solid foundation.

10’ : Baseline rallies down the middle of the court (5m wide zone) hitting forehands and backhands. Go around a cone placed 75cm from the baseline. Always reposition yourself with a solid two-footed foundation before your opponent returns and before you begin to prepare your next shot.

10’ : Diagonal baseline rallies in the deuce court (forehand/forehand for 2 right-handers). Go around a cone placed in the centre of the baseline after each shot. Beware! Make sure you take your time.

10’ : Same as the previous exercise in the advantage court.

10’ : Serve from both sides towards a target (cone, ball can, etc.). Concentrate on projecting the racket in the direction of the target.

10’ : Open play. Play points beginning with a serve.
