Augustin Gensse

"I joined Artengo because there's
a real two-way exchange process
between us and the brand's teams.
The products are improving year on
year and are increasingly technologically
sophisticated, which I think is great."

Former ATP n""136, Junior Australian Open finalist (2004) and winner of three Challenger tournaments, Augustin Gensse joined the ranks of the Artengo team in 2014. His experience in top level tennis is vital when designing some of Artengo's most technically advanced products.

HIS INTERVIEW

Your story ?
I started tennis at the age of 4, was spotted by the Federation at the age of 7 when playing at my club, which saw me receive a national training grant that lasted from when I was eight until I went to college. At 18, I made it to the French number two spot in the rankings and went on to join the CNE at Roland Garros and I spent three years playing among the 150 best players in the world.

Your best memory tennis ?
My best “victory” memory is a match in 2011 at Roland Garros in the qualifying round against Roberto Bautista Agut (currently 15th in ATP rankings). It was the first and only time in my career after a match that I collapsed onto the ground with fatigue and relief. It was so intense, I went through just about every possible emotion.

Preferred game style?
I am really a baseline attacking player with a good forehand, and a less powerful backhand but one that helps me neutralise my opponent. I have a kicking forehand, a bit Spanish style but it packs quite a punch.

What do you expect of your new challenge with Artengo ?
For me, Artengo stands for product quality and technical innovation. Artengo is a brand that has improved enormously over recent years, and I find its products really cutting edge. I like to remind players I meet that the products are fantastic and that you really have to try them to understand
