HIS INTERVIEW

Your story ?
I started learning tennis when I was really little. I was taught by my dad, at the football training centre in Chartres, which sometimes did tennis lessons. The first photo of me with a tennis racket was taken when I was 18 months old, and the story went from there. I started off playing tennis in Pau in various clubs, before joining the Federation through my sports study course, which eventually led to a professional career.

Your best memory tennis ?
My best memory will always be the final of the Davis Cup that we won in 2001 in Australia, but my win in Doha following a 6 month hiatus due to a hip problem is also one to savour

Preferred game style?
My game style, at least at the end of my career, was pure attacking, in other words, serve and volley so I could try and get to the net as quickly as possible, whereas at the beginning of my career I didn’t really play like that. Something clicked in my career: not only did it make me change my equipment but it also made me develop my attacking game.

What do you expect of your new challenge with Artengo ?
Results, obviously! Having great products that work and that people enjoy using and can improve with. The aim of our collaboration with Artengo is for me to contribute my expertise in professional tennis.

HIS TOP TIPS

MEASURING YOUR PERFORMANCE AND HIGHLIGHTING YOUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES – ARE YOU TEMPTED?

No high-profile sport can escape it –statistics are king when it comes to big matches, commentators and journalists. But more than just a media plaything, statistics are also an essential means to improving an athlete’s performance.

For many years already, backed up by various big IT companies, the ATP has provided elite players with a multitude of data concerning their game.
